Members, our events chairman, Jay, has come up with 2 choices for cruises. These are ones that our spouses and even kids or grand kids could participate in. We already took a vote at the last meeting to do both, but here they are for you to check out and comment on if you like.
1. Cruise to the Canyon Lake Marina for lunch. This cruise would leave from the Wimberley Brookshire Bothers parking lot on a coming Saturday at approximately 11:15 AM and proceed toward Canyon Lake via RR12, RR32, RR3424 and RR 306. It's a 15 mile run and should take about twenty minutes. Those that chose not to join the caravan can make their own way there. It's a scenic spot if the weather cooperates! The Marina Cafe has a good variety to chose from and there is both indoor and outdoor seating. Folks can drive whatever type of vehicle they want (and that is in running condition!). The point is to gather where we can share an experience, and some conversation, so as to get to know each other better. Departure time from the Marina and route back is up to the participants.
2. This run leaves from the same spot but is farther to travel so suggested departure will be earlier (11:00 AM). It will ultimately be to Pecan Street Brewery in Johnson City, via member Doug Chambers shop at 8101 Hwy 290 W., Dripping Springs. The route would be RR 2325 to RR165, then North up to Hwy 290 and west a short run to Doug's. He's got a very interesting place which he has decorated with his own art and murals. It's about 26 miles to his shop and should take about 30 minutes. After a comfort break and a thorough look at his handiwork we will make our way on to Pecan Street Brewery via Hwy 290 and this segment should take about 15 minutes. The Cafe there has a varied menu of choices at reasonable prices, and of course beers for those that have dry throats. Again this gives us an opportunity to share some time and conversation while seeing some of our beautiful hills and a couple of interesting destinations. Departure from Pecan Street and the route home will be up to the participants though some may want to caravan. What do you think ?
